Now the real trip begins

1st May - Decided to try and make Broken Hill today so set off at 8am and arrived at BH 5pm NSW time, so a long day travelling but was a good trip with great weather, next to no traffic and a couple of breaks. It’s amazing how much the scenery changed between Dubbo and Broken Hill, from vast fields of cotton (some already harvested), paddocks of sheep, dense bush and low scrub to wide open plains with wild goats, emus and kangaroos adding to the landscape. Staying in a crowded caravan park tonight, looking forward to the peace and quiet of the open country tomorrow night as we head towards the Oodnadatta track.

2nd May - From Broken Hill we drove through the Flinders Ranges and marveled at the changing landscape. It was so different either side of the road and there’s so much green about.
We decided to stop early at Leigh Creek and get some washing done.  A great find just off the main road with lovely clean amenities, good laundry and lovely kitchen facilities/tv room, all of which we made good use for a good price and in lovely surroundings.  Enjoyed tea around the camp fire the boys lit and wondered what our ancestors would think about us camping while watching an episode of Outnumbered on the laptop!
